Texas finally says NO to texting while driving

Texas finally made it official by passing a law which makes it a fineable offense to text while driving. Governor Abbott signed the bill into law which became effective September 1, 2017. This provides a needed deterrent to those drivers who insist on texting while driving. One study showed that drivers who text can cover the length of a football field (100 yards) or more while looking down at their phones. Texting while driving has been the cause of many accidents and injuries. As the summer months are upon us, more people will be on the roadways traveling which means the potential for more accidents. In my 30+ years of handling personal injury cases, I have noticed that calls from folks injured in car wrecks increase during the summer months. Be careful this summer…and remember NO TEXTING WHILE DRIVING!!
